“GST will free India from the shackles of archaic indirect tax laws” says experts


Greater Noida: A GST Summit was organized in Amity University Greater Noida on 5th October 2017 where the implications of proposed ‘one nation-one tax’ were discussed. The summit addressed doubts being raised by consumers and retailers. The summit was addressed by Prof. (Dr.) Saurabh Agarwal, Dean, Indian Institute of Finance, Mr. Mukesh Kumar Jain, Associate Professor, Zakir Husain College, University of Delhi, Mr. Atul Kumar Gupta, Chairman, GST Committe, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Mr. Anuj Kakkar, CA and Senior Associate,  Dhurva Advisors, Dr.Partha Chatterjee, Associate Professor of Economics, Shiv Nadar University, Hans Raj Chugh,  Chartered Accountant, Partner, ASHM & Associates.

Addressing the summit, Mr. Mukesh Kumar jain said, GST will free India from the shackles of archaic indirect tax laws. It is envisaged to pave way for the ‘One Nation One point single Tax’ system. GST will strengthen the positioning of organised players in market and lend fillip to growth.” Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Saurabh Kumar Agarwal said,  All businesses, small or large are going to get impacted because of this paradigm shift in the indirect tax regime. Policymakers have consistently resonated the benefit of a unified taxation system in a federal country. Mr. Atul Kumar Gupta delved into the impact of GST on wide range of sectors and emphasised that there is a long list of benefits, which are being claimed as a result of GST law and one such benefit is removal of the cascading tax effect.
